A special jersey made for a special man. Team manager Wessel Kotzè had Johnnie Redelinghuys jersey for the match against Argentina embroided with the number 50.


Redelinghuys to become first Namibian to win 50 caps.

Prop forward Johnnie Redelinghuys will this weekend become the first Namibian player to earn 50 caps for his country after being named in the match day 23 for Namibia’s final Pool C match this Sunday against Argentina in Leicester. The 31 year-old owner of a construction company won his first cap for Namibia on the 9 th of September 2006 against Kenya in Nairobi. Redelinghuys was named on the bench for the match and said it was a huge honour to become the first Namibian player to reach this milestone.

Burger ruled out of Rugby World Cup

Namibia’s inspirational captain Jacques Burger has been ruled out of his country’s final Pool C game against Argentina on Sunday, thereby ending an illustrious international career. Burger suffered a confirmed concussion nine minutes into the match against Georgia on Wednesday evening at Sandy Park in Exeter and will not be able to play against the Pumas in Leicester.

Burger’s test career for Namibia spanned over nine years and 36 caps which included three Rugby World Cup appearances in 2007, 2011 and 2015.
Last night he equalled Hugo Horn’s 11 Rugby World Cup appearances for his country.

An incredible night for Namibia Rugby

Namibia have named their squad to face Georgia in the Pool C clash. The starting XV have 398 test caps between them, over one hundred caps more than their next most experienced RWC line-up. The starting XV for Namibia when they were defeated by Wales 81-7 in 2011 boasted 294 test caps.

Plymouth Albion RFC visit on Monday

Members of the Namibian squad visited the Plymouth Albion RFC on Monday where a Rugby Festival was held. Heavy rain forced the activities indoors where the players met and a chat with the young rugby players. Despite the weather a great time was had by all !!!

Namibia's forward coach Henry Kemp is working hard at ensuring the pack will deliver against Georgia. On Monday he invited one of the UK's most renowned scrum coaches Robin Cowlin from Exeter to assist with scrums. The training session was held in thick fog that has descended on Plymouth.

The weather in Plymouth Sunday morning pretty much sums up the general mood in England today, cold, wet , glum and miserable. Namibia are out training ahead of Wednesday's Pool C match against Georgia in Exeter.

Reception at HMS Devenport Rugby Club

Friday evening Plymouth City Council and HMS Devenport Naval Base welcomed the Namibian Team to the city with a reception at HMS Devenport Rugby Club. A fantastic evening out and an opportunity to thank all those who have been extremely generous to the Namibian team. The Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Dr. John Mahony, The University of St.Mark and St.John, HMS Devenport and Plymouth Albion RFC.
