Tjiuee Uanivi is one of a number of Namibian squad members who play professional rugby in France. The 24 year old took up rugby at primary school but unlike the majority of his team members he did play the game at all at high school and instead focussed on the round ball. After high school he started playing rugby again to stay fit, his progress has been anything less than astonishing. He was spotted by former Namibian coach Danie Vermeulen who drafted him into Windhoek United’s first team, he was selected for the Namibian Students Sevens team where he had an outstanding tournament at the World Student Games in Shenzhen, China. Standing two meters tall he has great athletic abilities, this was noticed by French Top 14 club, Brive C.A. where he made his debut in 2013. Tjiuee made his debut for Namibia in their 58-20 win over Germany in Windhoek last year. Uanive has established himself as Namibia’s “ Go To” man in the line-outs and has played in all of Namibia’s international matches since then , earning him a total of 11 caps.
