Wian Conradie needed only one full match to convince Head Coach Phil Davies that he needed to be in Namibia’s Rugby World Cup squad. Another product of Namibia’s excellent schools rugby sey-up, Conradie also came through the ranks having played at junior primary and senior high school level for Namibia. After an excellent tournament for Namibia at the 2014 Junior World trophy tournament in Hong kong it was only a matter of time before he would be promoted to the national side. Conradie was one of the outstanding players in the University of Johannesburg’s 2015 Varsity Cup campaign - he continued with his good form when he was called up to Namibia’s preliminary training squad for Rugby World Cup. His chance finally came against Kenya in the Africa Cup in Windhoek, he was outstanding and combined extremely well with experienced campaigners Jacques Burger and Renaldo Bothma and there was little doubt that he would be a valuable member of Namibia’s RWC squad. Conradie is a second year Building Science student at the University of Johannesburg.
