Leneve Damens represents the next generation of Namibian loose-forwards and along with Wian Conradie is set to follow in the footsteps of Jacques Burger and company when they hang up their boots. Damens attended the famous Grey College in Bloemfontein and also represented Free State at the Craven-week and in 2011 he was selected for the South African Schools side. A move to Pretoria followed where he played for the Blue Bulls under 19 side the next year and in 2014 featured in the University of Pretoria’s first team, Tuks, in the Varsity Cup competition. in 2013 Damens was in the initial training squad for the SA under 20 side but injury prevented him from selection to the Junior World championship. He gave up his a promising professional career in South Africa to return to Windhoek and pursue his dream of playing in a Rugby World Cup Tournament. The decision to move back paid off as he was a regular in the Welwitschia's XV in the Vodacom campaign and then received his first call up to the national side for the Africa Cup match against Tunisia in June. He now has 3 caps.
