PJ “ POF” van Lill is one of 14 members of the Namibian squad for England 2015 with Rugby World Cup experience with 3 appearances at the 2011 RWC in New Zealand. His brother Jurgens also represented Namibia and played at the 2003 RWC in Australia. He was born and bred in Keetmanshoop, a town 460 kilometres south of Windhoek but attended High School in the capital where he was selected for the country’s Senior craven week side in 2002. After school he enrolled at the University of Stellenbosch where he qualified as a dentist and returned to Windhoek at the end of his studies. His first call up to the Namibian side came in 2006 while still playing at Stellenbosch University. He successfully balanced the demands of a full time dentist and a rugby player to be selected for Namibia’s 2011 Rugby World cup squad. After the New Zealand tournament he signed to play for Stade Aurallic but administrative issues prevented him from playing a single match for the french club and he returned to Windhoek. His chance came in 2014 when he committed to US Dax in the French Pro D2 League and played 21 times for the club in Southwestern France. After the World Cup he will join Aviron Bayonnais for another season in France. He has 38 caps for Namibia and has captain his country on a number of occasions.
