Johannes Voges ( Aranos ) Coetzee made his debut for Namibia at the advance age of 27 against Tunisia in Nabeul in June 2015. Since then “ Aranos” (a farming town in Namibia’s South where he attended primary school), has won 4 caps for Namibia. Coetzee picked up the finer points of scrumming in France where he first did duty for Racing Metro and then Brive where he has been playing since 2011. He represented the Youth teams of Western Province and the Leopards and South Africa’s u 18 side in the Africa Cup Competition but decided to represent his country of birth. Coetzee featured in the NWU Pukke’s 2010 Varsity Cup campaign and in the same year made his debut for the Leopards. After the Rugby World Cup, Coetzee will return to Africa where he has signed up for the Free State Cheetahs to play Currie Cup and SuperRugby for the Bloemfontein based franchise. While short on international caps his experience at European Challenge and European Cup level will be invaluable to Namibia. Aranos is married to Minette and they are expecting their first child.
