Johnnie Redelinghuys is Namibia’s highest capped player after test match appearances for his country. The 31-old prop is one of four players in Namibia’s squad to play in a third Rugby World cup Tournament. Redelinghuys played for Namibia’s under 18 craven week side and then went on to represent the country’s at the 2003 under 19 Junior World Cup. After stints with the Free State Cheetahs and Griquas under 21 and Vodacom Cup teams he returned to Namibia to work in the family’s business. He made his debut in Namibia’s surprise 30-26 defeat against Kenya in September 2006, a week after the Namibians had scored 80 points against the East Africans in Windhoek. Redelinghuys is regarded as one of the strongest screamers Namibia have produced in the modern era. His commitment to Namibia is unwavering, as owner of his own construction business in Okahandja, he makes a round trip of a 150 kilometres at least there times a week to practise or play for his club and the national side.
